Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Happy Holidays everyone! I know Christmas was yesterday but its never too late to spread a little holiday cheer. I have had a busy time whilst being at home since I am not here for long - as I leave tonight! It is a crazy whirlwind of stuff ... but lately most of life is looking good. Its always difficult to see the good when there is bad, but try to let the good count for more than the bad. Because in the end, that's what should really matter.

Plus, with the new year just around the corner it is a good time to be thinking of changes and changing. So out with the bad and the terrible and in with the good and glorious.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and best wishes in the new year.

Thought It was time for an Update

So I had a nice little week of "pure hell" last week. A final lecture exam on Tuesday followed by a midterm on Thursday as well as a formal lab due and a final lab exam on Friday.

All of this was followed by my own pity party on Friday with a lovely little bottle of wine.

Little Black Dress Chardonnay

Then finished off the week with FSTS ... the final initiation for the pledges (now new sisters) of Iota Beta Chi

I have booked my flight home for the holidays. :D

Just a note: If Chardonnay isn't your cup of tea, Little Black Dress also makes an amazing pinot grigio. I have personally never had the merlot ... mainly because as those of you who know me know - I do NOT drink red wine!

PS. Drinking wine is does NOT count as to real "drinking" of alchol - I KNOW this because my mom taught me so.

Longest Day Ever

So, I worked from 7am til 4pm today... and it was good - my feet hurt which is in part my own fault for wearing my boots ...  probably wont DO that again!! Wear the boots for a nine hour shift that is!

anyways it wasnt a terrible shift ... it didnt feel overly long or anything -  it was pretty busy! Well it was a holiday special in the mall which of course we (by "we" I mean the store at which I work - The GAP) participated!

20% most everything in the store!
Some people went a little crazed but it was fun!

I am now having a nap before the fundraiser for tonight! IBX is hosting a candy necklace fundraiser in which we sell candy necklaces in one of the local bars :)
Its going to be a good time :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

So today my roommates and I had our thanksgiving dinner. It was a very delicious meal. And, what might you ask yourself do poor, destitute students have for thanksgiving you may ask yourself?

Well I am here to tell you!

Why, Thanksgiving Pizza of course!

The perfect blend of gravy, chicken, stuffing, and 2 cheeses (cheddar and mozzarella)!
From Extreme Pizza

It even comes with cranberry sauce for dipping.

Here is my roommate Erin 'carving' our turkey :)

So, enjoy your turkey dinners - Thanksgiving Pizza is the newest thing in Thanksgiving traditions.

Happy Turkey Day to all!

New Year + New Roommate(s) + New Adventures

I found this icon, and I happen to believe it suits my blog quite nicely!

Well, here on the east coast the weather is as different as you and I! Yesterday it went from cloudy, to a drizzle, to a downpour (of course right as I had to leave my lab and walk home). Then as two of my roommies and I went to the Seahorse it turned into a nice, cool evening! Then today - its warm and sunny and beautiful!!!

So today, my roommate, C (she is the new one that moved in in september) and I went to the mall and to the food store!

At the mall I found sunglasses (2 for 10$) since Allie broke mine over the long weekend on the lake! But its o.k. cause my new ones are HOT STUFF!!  >>>>

And since they were having such an awesome sale day ... I also got myself a necklace and I got Allies Christmas present! I am SO going to be prepared!

Then we went on to M&Ms - they has some stuff on sale AND it was a Scratch and Save Day! We both only saved 5% though which isn't too bad but not great! Oh well!
Then, we got home and Nikki was here and all of us (me and my roommies) went downstairs for coffee ... the joys of living above a coffee shop ...

Nikki will hopefully be moving in October 1st as Mason will be leaving ... so this will be fun and exciting changes ... I am not too worried about the change she seems really sweet and is nice ... and we have the same size feet ... so we can share shoes WOOT!!

So here's to everything working out! *cheers*
A little song by Cobra Starship 'Good Girls go Bad' on the album Hot Mess ... they are pretty decent; awesome dancing / club-type music!  Its not the video just the song with the album cover but the song is awesome quality!!! And that is what counts!

I have to get to studying - midterm on Tuesday -  BOO!

First Day of the Last Year of Undergrad!

Hi
So ... today ---- was my last first day of my last first semester in my undergrad degree! Nothing overly spectacular spectacular happened. I only have one class and then the lab for said class on Wednesdays this semester. And during the first 'week' of class you don't have labs except for when one of your profs decides to have one ... but I digress. So I got up went to school for my 1 class - which was a grand total of 15 minutes long - the professor just handed out the syllabus and talked a bit about what we are going to do over the semester, lab rules, that there was no lab today and the exam types.
Then, I got my bus pass went to lunch with Jess then my roomie R and I went to the mall to check out the new H&M store ... it was ok ... the new collection really isn't as great as we thought it would be but there was still some cool stuff ... didnt get anything though. I then finally went grocery shopping - went to Pete's - got a bunch of veggies and some fruit - ate all the raspberries (with help from the roomies with some cool whip) it was delicious :)

Back - to- School

So, my flight was good got back here pretty good. Abby picked me up from the airport and I treated her to dinner - we went to this Turkish cuisine place (I forget the name) but it was quite delicious :)
Then I got back to my apartment - oh how I missed thee! Got to see my former roomie, my still roomies and my new roomie! Then we ventured over to see my former roomie's new place (quite awesome)!
But, now I must organize my courses figure out whats happening then I gotta by some groceries - cause I mean I gotta eat! Although it wait for a bit - I am going over to a friends apartment for dinner and to hang out.
And I still have to unpack and move back into my room and once I get moved in decent enough ... I plan to get my nails done :) well I did work ALL summer and saved some of my tips so I could :D
Well, I have a tonne of stuff to do and well today to do it - classes start tomorrow! So I better be off!

New Template 4 New Year

I decided a change was in order ... since I am heading back to school in a couple days ... many things will be different - its my last year for a start. So, if all goes well, I will graduated with a Bachelors degree in Biology. Which is also the title to one of my favourite Girls Aloud songs. >>

Also, one of my roomies is moving out to a new apartment :( and thus an end to our roomie love and awesome-ness that was last year. Then there is a new girl moving in with us. Plus, it will be my last year out east. And, now I must determine to which programs I should apply? another undergrad? post-grad? diploma programs? college? Too many questions, too few answers? too many decisions and too many unknowns!

I have the Best Auntie Ever

My auntie Anne of r-anne-dom knits and sews lots of cool stuff! Anyways, that's only part of it; being her "favourite" niece and all she has made a purse called the 'Jessica'. Better than that though she made it in two of my sorority's colours! Burgundy and gold :) Iota Beta Chi Forever!

She even made some matching key chains and true to her she wrote (or rather typed) me a letter; she sends me letters when I am away at school.

However, I am not at school yet - flight is Monday, classes start Wednesday.

But, I love my new purse and just had to take pictures and upload them for all to see the coolness of it :)

I hope everyone is getting their shopping/packing done for back to school (or back to work)! So much for the summer, hardly had any nice weather ...

Short Supply

Howdy,
I realize that this summer my ramblings have been in short supply; partly because not much has happened this summer - been days filled with work, reading, doing nothing, watching Anna and Joey, and drinks with Amanda :) Its been a decent summer, but nothing spectacular!

The coolest event was the Jess and Joe are moving to BC - Joe is there now and Jess will be moving in January :( But, they drove cross-country to move out there; and of course there was a stay-over in Ontario ... a little town to be exact. We then went to Canada`s Wonderland.
Sadly it is no longer owned by Paramount Pictures so half the rides have been given new names! What confusion! I have been going on `Top Gun` for years and it is now Flight Deck! Poor Joe couldn't find top gun on the map!!!

And, last week, I did go and get my hair done!! For the first time in my life I went with more low-lights and less high-lights making it darker than my natural colour, which is exciting and I have to say I absolutely love it!

GOLDIE HAWN

This summer I have planned to read some autobiographies and biographies and memoirs to my book list for my 101 in 1001 goal.
Since I am a huge Goldie Hawn fan, I went to the library and got her book A Lotus Grows in the Mud. Since I have been reading it I have learned quite a bit about her and her life. She is a very funny and very wise woman and I have gained deeper insight into life and a great respect for her. I am almost finished, but I do think that this is a must read, I have thoroughly enjoyed the adventure.

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

Last night, Steph and I went to see Ghosts of Girlfriends past, it was pretty funny, and can make you tear up! But seriously it has Matthew McConaughey in it so it wouldn't be a waste simply because of him! ;) But yes it is a chick flick and thus by definition completely and 100 percent predictable but seriously its good for some laughs!
I know I absolutely loved it :) but then I like crazy, random and stupid things! or so people say. but what do they know?

Home 4 the Summer

So, after a three day trek, I have made it home once again for the summer.

Mom and Dad both came out to get me this year! Jess, Joe, mom and dad and I all went out for dinner before we left! And mom brought pie from the place with the giant apple! They were yummy! My roommies definitely thought it was awesome!

Anyways, better get to the unpacking, and the starting of work, and the visiting of people. :)

Facial Bar Fridays!

Hey

So Abby, Ursula and I went to Facial Bar Fridays, where you get a free martini with your self-serve facial. I had a Sea Breeze martini. We had our appointment after regular business hours but Katherine stayed and did our facials and mixed up our martinis!
I forgot my camera so I do not have a picture of my drink, but I like this picture I found in my folder of randomness photos, I give credit to whomever, but martinis are yummy-licious!!!

Last Shift and the Party Begins

So I just finished my last shift and I am so excited that I have finished my final shift at the contact center now my summer can commence.
But afterwards it was still pouring rain and I missed my bus got soaked in the rain! But my good 'ol buddy Amanda helped me out! She came and picked me up! :)

We have a crazy rest of the week planned, tomorrow (Thursday) is my little shindig! All my friends are coming over and I am making Jello-shooters! But, before that I have an appointment to see Katherine at Remedy to get a spa pedicure!!

And my roommate A's little sister is up for a few days, and she has never been out in Hali, so we are going clubbing. Then, on Saturday night we are celebrating A's birthday!

I still am attempting to find a sub-letter and have to pack to head home. So, even though I am finished exams there is still stress ick!

Last exam and First Win!

So, yesterday I went to school to study with some of my friends for my exam last night; yeah a night exam how ridiculous, thankfully I did not need the full 3 hours or I would have cried. It was a terrible exam - conservation biology.
But, before the exam a friend and I stopped at Tim Horton`s and I WON!!!! A free coffee in the world of a student goes such a long ways!!!

Technically speaking its my second 'winner' ... but I personally didn't win the first one, my auntie Anne sent it to me in a letter :)

My roomies and I are now going to head to the mall for a little shopping fun.

One exam left to go!

I am so excited, I only have one final left - on Tuesday! Then, my house party on Thursday! Gonna be one helluva party! To celebrate the end of finals and so I can see all my friends/sisters before I head home for the summer.
But yesterday was an awesome day! I got a manicure done at Remedy with a FREE eyebrow shaping (I had a coupon from a promotion day!).
Didn't Katherine do an awesome job??? I love it! The colour is so fun!
The colour is called "Ladies and magenta-men" by OPI
The coolest thing is I took this picture myself!!
Aren't I talented!!

So, today I have to work - but not til tonight. So for the next few hours I should probably study and I plan to but just knowing the ick that is tomorrow makes me want to be extremely lazy.

Tomorrow - Saturday - day of fun or in my case would be day of study - I have to work ... not just any shift the stupid 11-7 shift! The worst possible shift! I have to get up early just to get there on time AND won't get home until late! Man this job irks me! Especially since when I started I specifically asked for none of the 8 hour shifts since I am a student. Grrrrrrrrrrr! Oh well I guess - the days til my last shift countdown is on!

Well I should probably get to studying!

p.s. A shout out to my BFF Steph! Its her birthday today!
(and she has to write a final but its her last one!)

Exams

Ok so I a little worried about my exam tomorrow - Evolution
Its not that I am not prepared - I just don't know what she is going to ask us, I just hope she asks us the stuff I know. The only good thing is she said there would be choice ... those answer 3 of the following 5 questions.
But once its done I will so happy then I have a spa appointment with Katherine, at Remedy!

anyways, back to the books.

One of my fav Glogs

School

Well life is a bunch of blah :P

School is beyond rough and stressful. I have a test on Thursday but my lazy prof couldn't bring herself to come to school today because of 5cm of snow! She continues to cancel class after class then she gets extremely upset when the class did poorly on the first test (we didn't have the 3 classes prior to the test). And, its great that she cares and all but not teaching us doesn't help. Yet we are still paying her to teach those classes.
When the university isn't closed you should still get your butt to the school - I mean we are expected to! Or at least use the online banner system to let us know prior, so some of don't walk the 30 minutes to school or take a 40min bus ride - ITS A WASTE OF OUR TIME and just annoying!
Now I must go create a sort of presentation for my stupid conservation of moose in NS project - dumbest thing EVER!!!

I love how happy bunny explains my life most of the time.

Happy Groundhog Day ... or not!

Shubenacadie Sam is Nova Scotia's weather predicting groundhog!

Shubenacadie Sam, the provincial wildlife park's famed groundhog, made his annual appearance this morning at 8 a.m. He was the first groundhog in North America to predict whether there will be six more weeks of winter this year or an early spring.

However, this morning at the park Nova Scotia's furry weather prognosticator has emerged from his den and is predicting six more weeks of winter.

How ghastly!!

Going Retro!!! ~ Totally 80's

Hey

So today it was absolutely freezing out here on the eastern seaboard! Like so cold me and my roomie have not left the house - not to get groceries (which we need) or to even go shopping (which we need as well - well some things lol)! However, we are planning to brave the fierce cold to go to the Retro night -- its the last one *sad* :(

However, we are taking the bus there and will hopefully have a liquor coat to bring us home!

So here's to the 80's the best decade ever!!

16 January 2009

Its been a month! and I'm sorry

I am sad to report a few things,

first I should really update this more often then I do.
So, I have made it a sort of new year's resolution.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

~ I hope every one's year is filled with happiness and personal success.
~ Don't forget to help others, listen more, laugh more, and live your life the way you want to.

However, I do not believe in new years resolutions, I do not think you should have to wait until the beginning of a new year to set goals for yourself -- I think that anytime you feel something should change in your life you should just make your goal! ITS YOUR LIFE! ~ ACCOMPLISH THINGS that are important to YOU and make them at ANYTIME during the year.

Which brings me to my other sad thing, and as sad and painful as it is, I feel as though I need to say something about it. A good friend of my family, passed away just before Christmas. My good friends Ma and Mi's father died. He was diagnosed with severe lung cancer a few months prior, and even though it was known he didn't have much time left, it was still a shock.

Over the holidays I was torn, I would go out with friends and be having a good time, then either during or just after i had gotten home I felt guilty. I guess its a part of grieving - I don't know, or when you feel like you should be all smiling and look happy when all you want to do is sit in the dark. Also, when people who don't know about what's going on in your life and comment that you look sad, you feel an obligation to explain, but then they just say oh that's sad, or that's too bad, or it'll be OK or they giving you pity glances - it makes you want to SCREAM!

However, there Ma's girlfriend was pregnant, she had the baby a month early so Rob got to see the baby, which was wonderful.

Now, there are good things that are going on, and as sad as I am and I think I always will be, good things are happening in my life, so don't be too sad.

I am still the Philanthropy chair for my sorority, which I love, I am excited because I have some really cool new ideas for us and our local GLOs!

Classes have started once again. I am taking 4 courses and I hope that this semester goes really well in all aspects. Class, my roomies (love them all), my sisters, and my friends and my family, I want to get things figured out.

But, as of now I need to get organized, clean my room (and the kitchen, if there is enough hours in the day). Also, gotta start on my homework; goodness second week of classes and rush and the insanity of school is already in full swing.

you know you love me, insanity and all
